But how do these speculations compare to what Google undoubtedly hopes buyers would consider as the default choice – the newly unveiled Pixel 8?
The Galaxy S24 series has been a topic of discussion for quite some time now, featuring a trio of eagerly awaited smartphones.
This lineup is believed to include the standard Galaxy S24, which we are currently examining, along with the larger Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus and the fully-loaded Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Moreover, if they prove to be competitive enough, they might even dominate our broader list of the best phones overall.
While we await the official release of these phones, the multitude of leaks preceding them has provided us with a relatively clear and cohesive understanding of what each model brings to the table.
This has enabled us to make informed predictions about how Samsung’s next-gen mobile hardware will measure up against some of its current competitors. In this context, the Google Pixel 8 takes center stage.

Samsung Galaxy S24 VS Google Pixel 8: Design And Display

In terms of generational evolution, while neither phone seems to revolutionize the standard, the Pixel 8 stands out for embracing more design modifications compared to its predecessor.
Notably, it features more rounded forms, particularly evident in the corners, representing a visually apparent alteration. The refined aesthetic, including a taller aspect ratio compared to the Pixel 7, gives it a silhouette reminiscent of the Galaxy S23 and presumably, the upcoming Galaxy S24.
The device boasts a polished glass back and a matte aluminum frame, creating a pleasing textural contrast.
The distinctive camera bar, a hallmark of the Pixel line, protrudes from the top third of the phone’s back and accommodates the dual rear camera sensors. Whether this design choice is considered elegant or cumbersome depends on individual aesthetic preferences.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 is anticipated to prioritize refinement rather than a complete overhaul, opting for slimmer bezels while slightly enlarging the screen. Additionally, it is expected to feature flatter sides.
While maintaining certain familiar elements from the S23, the leaked Galaxy S24 render indicates a shift towards harder lines, suggesting a design closer in resemblance to the recent iPhone 15. In contrast, the Pixel 8’s design leans towards a more curvaceous direction.
In terms of color options, both phones exhibit muted tones, but the Samsung Galaxy S24 is likely to offer a more extensive palette.

Expected colors include Onyx Black, Marble Grey, Cobalt Violet, and Amber Yellow, with the possibility of additional finishes exclusive to Samsung.com in certain markets. In comparison, the Pixel 8 is available in pale peach (Rose), green/gray (Hazel), and dark gray (Obsidian), presenting a somewhat limited yet inoffensive range of hues.
As for the displays, the Pixel 8 has dropped 0.1 of an inch from its predecessor’s panel to reach 6.2-inches, while a Galaxy S24 specs leak suggests that – along with those thinner bezels – the S24’s screen will actually come up by 0.1-inches from the S23, to match the Pixel at 6.2-inches, as well.
With both the Galaxy S23 and the Pixel 8 both being regarded as great compact-yet-powerful phones right now, it stands to reason that the Galaxy S24 will be no different.
